This item is an amazing historic artifact display of electronic computing technology. This is the 5964 Remington Rand Univac Computer Vacuum Tube, one that was used in one of the ground breaking Univac Computers, the amazing Univac. The Univac I, weighing 29,000 lbs., was the first commercially successful and mass produced computer in the world. The first one was made in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, U.S.A. and was delivered to the U.S. Government in December of 1951 for census data processing. 5,200 of the 5964 Vacuum Tubes were used as a bi-stable multi-vibrator in the registry and memory sections of each and every one of the ground breaking Univac Computers. However, only 46 of these landmark computers were ever built. Naturally, after nearly 60 years, there is but a limited number of these original historic vacuum tubes known to exist in the world today. The largest computer museum in the world has but only 46 of these rare vacuum tubes. All of the limited number collectible displays commemorating the Univac are dedicated to the memory and legacy of J. Presper Eckert, engineer, and John Mauchly, physicist, who together changed the course of history with the creation of the Univac I Computer, no doubt their greatest technological achievement. There will be only 182 of these displays made. More information available at this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DhVLAmm3xBA. $99.99 + Shipping + Insurance if requested.
